Hey guys,
I have already posted this in the book. But i figured it was worth a blog post.
I have already posted this in the book. But i figured it was worth a blog post.
On the 27th of September, 2011 a user on the website www.reddit.com posted an image describing how to make a data request to facebook to send all the personal data which they had collected of you as part of the “European Data Protection Directive” .

Under the European Data Protection act, Facebook will then have to send you a CD containing all the information they have about you. This caused a huge response, so much so that facebook sent out this response to several users, explaining that there would be delays in their response to the data requests.
So, are you going to send them an e-mail?
Haha, annoying for Mr Mark I think.
ReplyDeleteThey keep my details, I don't care, I know who I am, no need to get them to tell me!
Ross
But are you ok with them sharing your details with 3rd parties?
ReplyDeleteI'm with @Ross, if you put it up there you know that it's going to be around forever - even if your settings say family and friends only, I still don't post or (try) not to do anything that I wouldn't want my mum seeing! Which is probably why my kids won't 'friend' me!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you guys! However I am still interested in knowing what exactly the company knows about me, and if they have linked anything together from other pages I surf online, and that kind of information. As i doubt all my status updates would come close to filling up the 3000MB worth of PDF files you are rumored to recieve.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ross and Hubba, I assume that If I'm subscribed to Facebook, they can use my information...However, i agree with you Ivan, it could be interesting to know how much information they know about me and what's that 3000mb PDF is all about!
